Players in the News (Unique Players listed in blue)(PJStar.com, 10/22/2008) AT DUNLAP -Claire Peterson had nine kills to spark the Dunlap Eagles past Richwoods, 25-15, 25-16 in a nonconference volleyball match Wednesday night. Korinne Talbot had 20 assists, while Morgan Baumgarten added 12 digs for Dunlap. Richwoods (14-14-1) got 12 assists and five digs from Krista Moery and five kills and five digs from Kelli Dunne in the loss. ALUMNI: (PJStar.com, 9/25/2008) AT SPRINGFIELD - Freshman Callie Koziel had six kills and classmate Ashley Meyrick added five kills, four aces and nine digs as the Illinois Central volleyball team defeated Springfield College in Illinois, 25-10, 25-17, 25-19. "It was smooth match," ICC coach Sue Sinclair said. "We used 14 different players and mixed some things up a little. I was pleased with what I saw. "I think Ashley Meyrick stepped it up with five kills in 11 swings." Freshman Kelsy Heiser had 15 assists for the Cougars and sophomore Mo Roof added 10. Freshman Tessa Barra collected four blocks for ICC (13-3). (PJStar.com, 9/19/2008) AT PEKIN: Dunlap won the Mid-Illini match - 25-14, 25-11 - behind nine kills from Claire Peterson. Korinne Talbot had 20 assists for the Eagles. (PJStar.com, 9/13/2008) WETHERSFIELD INVITATIONAL: Kelsey Brooke and Michelle O'Brien were named all-tournment after leading Illinois Valley Central to the tournament title, 21-11, 21-9 over Prophetstown in Kewanee. (PJStar.com, 9/12/2008) Washington picked up its first Mid-Illini Conference win Thursday in a 25-15, 25-12 win over Canton. 'Our ball control was good and that leads to a good offense,' said Washington coach Chuck Heinz. AT NOTRE DAME: Kelli Dunne had eight digs and Krista Moery 21 assists in Richwoods' 25-15, 18-25, 25-23 win over the hosts. Kristin Itschner had seven kills and 14 digs and Elle Bielfeldt had eight blocks for the Irish, who lost on a service error. AT CHILLICOTHE: Erma O'Brien and Kelsey Brooke each had seven kills to lead IVC over Illini Bluffs 25-17, 25-16. AT DUNLAP: Angela Rego had nine kills and Morgan Obery added 22 digs to lead Metamora past the hosts 25-19, 25-17. Korinne Talbot contributed 18 assists for the Eagles. AT PEORIA HEIGHTS: Chelsea Jones had six kills and four aces to lead visiting Woodruff. 'We hung with them in both games pretty good,' said Patriots coach Michelle Barnes. 'We had a run in the last game — they just got some really great saves on us and caught us off guard.' Tia Steimling led PH with six kills.Images in the News
